The Future of Digital Careers

In a digital economy, future-proofing your career may mean acquiring a few new skills along your current path or knowing when to start forging a new path based on new trends and emerging technologies. One thing is certain – a constant state of learning is a new norm. Career fields that seemed to be “on the fringe” only a few years ago are now in high demand – data scientists, creative technologists, experience strategists, content architects, IoT and VR designers, etc. This represents a set of new opportunities for both employees and hiring managers who want to continue to be as relevant and competitive as possible.
Join us for our second installation of the Career Development Series where we’ll explore the future of digital careers. You’ll hear insights from a panel of leaders who will talk about some of the fastest growing career fields in digital marketing. They will share their personal stories of how they successfully navigated their careers, along with advice for employees, job seekers and managers on essential skills and development strategies. Moderator: Arturo Mendiola, VP of Client Strategy
Arturo has been leading client business through digital strategy and activation, ‘earning his stripes’ on holistic marketing campaigns, as well as enterprise technology and digital transformation. Throughout his time he’s worked for agencies both big and small including ICFOlson, Digitas and SapientRazorfish. He started his career in 2002 and has been playing an integral role in leading initiatives for blue chip brands ever since. His efforts have earned him two Effies for Bauer Hockey, recognition by TED and a Webby nomination. More recently, as VP of Client Strategy at HI, he leads the team and capability helping shape digital enterprise road maps and experience planning initiatives for clients like Sub-Zero Wolf, New York Life and Pantone.
In his spare time, he’s big supporter and active volunteer for the BrandLab, an organization that aims to introduce under-represented high school and college students, from diverse cultures and socioeconomic backgrounds, to the world of marketing, advertising and technology.
Kelly Lindberg, VP Customer Experience at Optum
Kelly serves as Vice President of Experience Design for Optum, within UnitedHealth Group corporation. Always in relentless pursuit of the sweet spot between consumer needs and business needs, she has driven key transformational change within Optum to become more consumer-centric. She is responsible for setting the overall experience vision, strategic direction and applying experience mapping, product design and UX/creative design for Optum’s consumer properties (web, app, telephonic, print, email, in-person) to deliver a simple, smart and seamless omni-channel experience. Previously she served over ten years leading digital experience in various roles for Target amongst her 15+ years with the company in digital, marketing, strategy & operations and merchandising.
Mike Keyes, SVP, Machine Learning at Remote Insights and Independent Data Scientist
Mike has been working on the technical side of digital marketing for more than 17 years. He has held a wide range of digital analytics roles, from developing web analytics tools to architecting customer data warehouses to extracting value from IoT data. Mike has worked for corporations and agencies and is currently focusing on building an IoT startup while doing independent contracting gigs on the side. In his free time Mike trains for nordic ski marathons and shuttles his kids to their many activities.
Julie Vollenweider, Partner and Co-Founder, Dialog Studios
A focus on quality content has persisted throughout Julie’s career—as a co-founder of Dialog Studios, the president of Brain Traffic , the web content manager for Ameriprise Financial, the communications editor for Meet Minneapolis, and through past work in advertising and public relations.

Pre-registration closes on at midnight prior to the event, at which point walk-in registration fees will apply for members, student members and nonmembers.
Cancellations received by the office at least two business days prior to the event are eligible for a refund of the registration fee. No refunds will be provided for cancellations received fewer than two business days prior to the event. No-shows will be billed for any unpaid registration fees.
If you have registered, are unable to attend, and would like to give your co-worker your “ticket,” please note that a pre-registered member to non-registered member switch-out is free. Switch-outs from members to non-members will execute an invoice to the attendee for payment after the event.
